1 cup
butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 cups flour
3/4 cup snipped basil
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon lemon extracts or zest
Add eggs 1 at a time - beat well after each.
Combine flour, baking soda & powder in a separate bowl.
Mix flour with sugar - alternate with buttermilk.
Add vanilla & lemon.
Fold in basil
Bake in a 9 1/2” greased pan at 350° for 30-35
min.
Serve with tart berries -especially lingo berry jam and
herbal tea.
