The lighthouse was established in 1906. During the early ship building days in Esquimalt, ships would make their "trial" run to these islands and back. Best viewed from Beach Drive in Oak Bay, today the islands are an ecological reserve for rare plants and birds. Many visitors pass by this lighthouse on whale watching excoursions.
